floating roots, pieces of home, the return

In November of 2025, I was invited by the Chinese curator Li Zhenhua to return to China to do an exhibition at the Kulangsu Center for Contemporary Art. The museum is on the small island of Gulangyu in the Fujian province of southern China, where my Chinese family originate. I also held a parallel exhibition at the Lin’s Mansion Art Space, built on the grounds of the former residence of my great-grandfather, where my father grew up. Julien Baumann, a young Swiss filmmaker, followed my journey of return from my studio to China, documenting the exhibitions I held there.
